AIS positioning allows for accurate and reliable tracking and collision avoidance.  The RS-109M sends location data for AIS receiver to display on charts. The RS-109M AIS locator is a stand-alone, battery powered GPS receiver and AIS transmitter with a powerful 10W or 5W signal and a battery life of 15 days on default setting of 3 minute transmission intervals, and a typical range of 7nm (Nautical Miles).  It weighs a mere 336g with dimensions of 74 x 65 x 330mm.  IPX7 waterproof. Includes 220V charger. The signal from the RS-109M will be picked up by surrounding vessels with AIS receivers and will show on their chart plotters.  AIS signals are also picked up by shore stations and satellites and are made accessible to rescue services and websites like MarineTraffic.com. small enough to fit into a life vest for paddlers. can be attached to ski boats, sailing vessels and other craft. keep a spare in your grab bag in case your main AIS fails (e.g. dismasting, power failure, flooding, fire) and take it with you when forced to abandon ship! can be attached to your Dan Buoy as a precaution to ensure that you will never lose it.
